Critical Reflection Question 1

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Conventions deal with they way someone projects their product using visual composition, color, text, and graphics. My magazine cover contains a bright aesthetic background with a picture to grasp the reader’s attention making them want to pick it up and read it. It also contains bold writing in black and white having the title in a larger font allowing it to stand out to the audience. Other conventions I used like short catch phrases such as ”5 eye catching places in the US” were simple yet a very important detail.

My media product could be produced in various ways. The first one would be through print and have them distributed in airports, rest stops, and grocery stores. My magazine deals with traveling so it is more aimed towards middle-aged older people. To target this social group placing these in airports would be effective because it’s where people who like to travel are located. Another way is through digital media. More specifically social media such as Facebook and Instagram. Since a high percent of people use these apps there is a better chance to catch people’s attention.
